Reed Diffuser Care & Safety
When setting up your diffuser, unscrew the top and remove the rubber stopper. Replace the top and place the reeds into the bottle allowing the essential oils to be drawn up through the reeds. Turn the reeds once a day for the first week and then turn them whenever you want to add a burst of fragrance into the room. Take care when turning the reeds to keep oil from dripping or splashing onto any walls or surfaces, keep out of direct sunlight and wash hands after handling. Reed diffuser oils are usually flammable, you should never light the reeds, even if the scent has weakened.
Allow 1 - 2 days for the fragrance to fill the space. Some reed diffusers will last longer than others, simply depending on what scent you choose. If you find the scent too overpowering for your taste or you prefer a more subtle scent, simply add less reeds. To help get the most out of your diffuser, try to place it somewhere fairly cool, draft free and not in direct sunlight. When choosing a location for your diffuser, make sure it is out of the reach of children and pets, and as it contains liquid, keep the diffuser away from electrical equipment and sockets.
People suffering from perfume sensitivity should be cautions when using this product and as with any aromatherapy product, seek advice before using if pregnant, taking medication or if you have a medical condition which prohibits the use of essential oils.

If you like your product, don't throw the container away and buy a new one. Check out our diffuser refills, we will even pay postage as a thank you for helping us to become more eco friendly!

Essential Oils & Wax Melt Safety
Oil burners and wax melters are a really nice way to fragrance a space however; people suffering from perfume sensitivity should be cautions when using these products and as with any aromatherapy product, seek advice before using if pregnant, taking medication or if you have specific medical conditions which prohibit the use of essential oils.

As these products require heat to melt and / or to release the fragrance, please either refer to the Candle Care & Safety information below for reference when using a wax melter or oil burner with these products or if using an electric diffuser or melter; please refer to that products safety guidelines to ensure safe usage.
Molten wax and oil are extremely hot and can burn so avoid direct contact with skin. When choosing a location for your product, make sure it is out of the reach of children and pets, the space is well ventilated and it is on a flat, heat resistant surface. Once heated never leave it unattended and always allow to cool before moving.

Take care to keep the wax or oil pool clear of debris of any kind as this could cause a fire hazard and it may also affect the scent and strength of the product
Candle Care & Safety
Please take note of the following advice and warnings if using candles with or near any of the products purchased from Busy Little Bluebird. Burning tea lights and candles can be dangerous if these warnings are ignored. A lot of our products are made with felt and fabric which can catch fire and the acrylic in the felt mix can become extremely hot if melted.
People suffering from perfume sensitivity should be cautions when using this product and as with any aromatherapy product, seek advice before using if pregnant, taking medication or if you have a medical condition which prohibits the use of essential oils.

When choosing a location for your chosen product, make sure it is out of the reach of children and pets, make sure the space is well ventilated draught free area and only light the candle if it is on a flat, heat resistant surface. Always leave a space of at least 10cm between burning candles and keep away from anything that can catch fire.

For best results, burn your candle for at least 2 hours but no more than 4 hours at a time. This will allow your candle to create a full melt pool so that it burns evenly all the way down and avoid tunnelling.

Never leave a burning candle unattended and never move it whilst it is lit. You should never allow the flame to touch the side of the glass or tin and be aware that the container may become hot during use so always allow to cool before moving.

Take care to keep the wax pool clear of matches and other debris to avoid flaring and extinguish the candle if it flickers, smokes or the flame gets too high. Keep wicks trimmed to 5mm between lighting to avoid smoking and damage to the glass. Take care to make sure that the wick is upright, central and above the wax before the wax sets.

I know that it is tempting when there is wax still left in the candle but for safety reasons, you should stop using the candle when 5 - 10mm of wax remains at the bottom and should not relight it once it has reached this stage.

If have purchased a candle and you like your product, don't throw the container away and buy a new one. Check out our refill service option; we can refill your product and send it back to you, we will even take care of the postage as a thank you for helping us to become more eco friendly! Please note that this does not apply to tea-lights.

Other Product Care & Safety
The products created by Busy Little Bluebird are for decorative purposes only and are not toys. Keep out of the reach of children and animals and make sure that young children are supervised around any products. This is also applicable to the products in the Stuffies section of the shop. Although any product that has been stuffed has been done so with safe grade soft toy stuffing and characters either use safety eyes or embroidered eyes, we still advise supervision at all times.

Some of the small decorations used in many of the products may become detached and could become a choking hazard. Stems are made with wire which could be sharp and dangerous if exposed. Handle with care.
Felt used to create some of the products we make has been treated and tested but I would still advise you to not place it in direct sunlight as the colours may fade with time. I would also recommend avoiding contact with cleaning products or washing any part of these products as this may affect the colours. If cleaning is required, wipe or dust by hand using a dry duster or damp cloth. Do not wash as colours may run.
Understanding Fragrance Labelling
We use CLP labelling for all our fragrance products. This is a must and all fragrance products should be safety and CLP compliant. Please check what you are buying when buying handmade to make sure your product is safe and your seller is providing you with a fully safe and compliant product.

The good news is that the complicated bit is for us makers, what you need to take away from these labels is pretty straight forward.

If there is a red diamond hazard symbol showing, this means that there is some information that needs to be shared on the label about the fragrance used. The ones you will see on our products are, at a quick glance:
-
The exclamation mark which means: Health hazard / Hazardous to the ozone layer
-
The tree and fish which means: Hazardous to the environment
-
The person with the white star which means: Serious health hazard
There is always further information to explain why the symbol is there on the label. This may be that there is an ingredient that can cause an allergic reaction or that could harm the environment if incorrectly disposed of.
There should be a yellow caution triangle on any candle or melt product that does not have one of the above as these should always come with safety information.

If your fragrance product has a small square image, this is to share instructions for how to use the product safely. If you ignore this, you may have a fire hazard on your hands so please always take note of what your label says. If in doubt, search online. There is a wealth of information about these symbols and what they mean!
